Fire Victim Relief Fund
The Fire Victim Relief Fund has been established by the Houma Firefighters Association Local 1405 to help families take
the first steps toward putting their lives back together after a devastating fire.
Who Qualifies
Any family or individual in Terrebonne Parish whose property has become unlivable due to fire damage, may qualify for
some assistance. There are some requirements however, for a family (individual) to receive monetary assistance.
Benefits Provided
- Any family or individual who has been burned out of their residence will obtain 2 free nights lodging at a local hotel.
This is offered regardless of their financial situation.
- Up to $200 in the form of a voucher is provided in the first critcal hours after the fire to qualified families.
- Clothing and other assistance is provided by other area agencies.
- News coverage showing the situation they are in, to entice further assistance from the public.
Qualifications for Voucher
- Amount of voucher will be based on family (individual) income per year.
- Whether or not the family (individual) is insured.
These factors are only guidelines. The final decision is made by the Fire Victim Relief Fund administrator, who has been
given a generous amount of leeway in the decision making process. Victims are then referred to the many agencies
throughout the area for other forms of assistance.
